Story: In late 2004 I was really excited about the release of Bride and Prejudice, because I love Jane Austen adaptations (and some of the novels too, of course) and I had also really liked Bend It Like Beckham and Monsoon Wedding, which is one of my very favorite movies ever. While looking at the Bride and Prejudice website one day, I noticed a section called “about Bollywood” or something like that, and I read it and my curiosity was piqued. I am lucky to live in a university town that has an amazing video store with over 20,000 movies, including an outstanding foreign film section. After doing some online research about Bollywood, I went to the video store and just picked out some movies: at random, Lagaan and Mujhse Dosti Karoge! So, Mujhse Dosti Karoge! was the first thing I ever watched, and I simply loved it. And that was that! Despite being fairly new to Bollywood, I feel like I’ve lived here all my life!
