Story: After discovering Hanif Kureishi a few years ago, I really got into literature by authors of Asian descent, and was more and more interested especially in Indian culture. I’d loved movies like East is East, My Beautiful Laundrette, London Kills Me and Bend it like Beckham, but I wanted to see some proper Indian movies, not just British movies with some Indian actors. The first one I saw was Monsoon Wedding and I just fell in love with it. After that I watched Bride & Prejudice, but the first real Bollywood movie I saw was (the second half of) Kal Ho Naa Ho, thanks to German TV. After that, I was hooked. I did some research online, borrowed some DVDs and when I started writing a blog and discovered other Bollywood-related blogs, that was it - a new addiction was born and I haven’t looked back since!
